Danica Patrick shows celebrity divorce can be amicable

Marriage is usually entered into with the best of intentions. Sometimes, however, despite no fault on either side, it just does not workout. With all of the emotions involved, divorce often becomes messier than it needs to be. More and more, couples in Denver and elsewhere are choosing divorce mediation over traditional arbitration. In some states, family law courts have made family mediation sessions a mandatory part of the divorce process. Divorce mediation is meant to be a cordial process to allow couples to end their marriage without the emotional stress, financial challenges and hassle that so often accompany divorce proceedings.

According to court documents, NASCAR driver, Danica Patrick went through mediation in order to settle her recent divorce. It was not reported whether or not the state or county where Patrick filed for divorce required the mediation process, or if the pair chose the process themselves. They were able to arrive at a fair settlement, according to court records.

It appears that finalizing the pair's divorce was relatively straightforward. The couple did not have any children, and are reported to have signed a prenuptial agreement prior to their 2005 nuptials. At this time, no details regarding the settlement have been released to the public. It is unknown whether either has been ordered to pay spousal support.

For some couples, it is best to go through attorneys when divorcing. For others, there are more amicable and less stressful options available. If you are considering ending your marriage, you may want to speak with legal counsel that is familiar with divorce mediation. A mediator can help you and your spouse reach a settlement and make the process as smooth as possible for everyone involved.
